Craving the Stimulus or Drinking the Still Waters
The soul was designed for communion — to live in continual conversation and connection with its Creator. But when the soul loses that communion, it hungers still. What was meant to be holy appetite becomes unholy craving. When discernment collapses, the soul begins to grasp for stimulation. The senses, dulled to the still movements of God’s Spirit, demand louder, faster, stronger sensations — things that make us feel alive for a moment, even as they quietly drain life from wi

What to expect "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom...",
Matthew 13;1-23 I have been thinking back upon our men's retreat at Blue Bronna Wilderness Camp and wondering what the first few days back home were like for you. At the camp many of you experienced God speaking to you personally. What was it like to bring that Word home with you? Jesus taught his disciples, in this circumstance, what to expect. He said, "When anyone hears the word of the kingdom...", One of 4 things will surely follow. Either: " the evil one comes and snat

“No Saints to inspire me. No sinners sinful enough”
William McNamara: “My grievance with contemporary society is with its decrepitude. There are few towering pleasures to allure me, almost no beauty to bewitch me, nothing erotic to arouse me, no intellectual circles or positions to challenge or provoke me, no burgeoning philosophies or theologies and no new art to catch my attention or engage my mind, no arousing political, social, or religious movements to stimulate or excite me. There are no free men to lead me. No saints t

The Gift of Suffering
The purpose and gift in suffering/affliction. A question to ask would be, “Have I allowed The God and Father of Christ Jesus, The Father of all mercies and comfort to actually comfort me… to be THE source of my comfort in the midst of suffering? This is the ‘treasure we have been promised In these earthen vessels’ (2 Corinthians 4:7-12), not escape from suffering and a comfortable life, but His comfort/consolation in the midst of suffering, to glorify His Name and encourage o

No Glory or Honor in a comfortable life
Day by day, your grace and mercies are new Lord Jesus! Each step of this pilgrimage You faithfully are giving us new faith, hope, and vision as to how it can be; You’re giving us discernment and creativity to problem solve en route to accomplishing all You desire for us, which has become our desire. I am grateful for the challenges before us; I am not set up on this earth to live a comfortable life. There’s no glory in that. There’s no honour in that. And as your son and daug

Last words…
A good friend of mine told me how his father’s last words to him were, “Son, read two chapters of the Scripture a day and look for the hidden meaning!” Of course, one’s lasts words hold much weight. His father was one of my Bible professors in College after I gave my life to the Lord at 18yrs. A deeply impactful relationship for me as a young man for those 3yrs. He was humble, deeply in love with Jesus and His Word and very kind to me. Now decades later, and years after his p

The Voice of God
Great morning out with a brother. Spiritual Disciplines of silence and solitude train the heart and the ear to hear and recognize the voice of God. Prayer is the confident communion between God and man, and it is the chief pursuit of a man who desires to be formidable. To be formidable, one must know the truly Formidable One. All other voices must be silenced. #theformidableway #seanmccauley #mountains #rockeymountains #spiritualdisciplines

Every day is sacred
The world is full of opportunities and promise to the man or woman who sees in faith, hope and love. But to the heart of fear, every day only brings threat and dread. How can that heart be free. What we see is a choice and our Lord has given us His Spirit and He helps us to see as He sees. Every day is sacred, every day is perfect and holy when one’s heart is open to the presence of God; when we discipline our heart (mind, will and emotions) to prize ‘being with Jesus’ as the

Faith requires no motivation, only will.
We ‘actively rest’ in The Lord. We wait for The Lord. We honor His Name(nature and intentions/will) in all we do, say, think and all those we relate to. This is how we rest/wait on Him. There is a faith that is an act of the will. It isn’t inspiration or motivation as much as choice; a galvanized quality of a person’s character. (In fact, this exactly what all faith is). I am grateful for inspired days, motivated moments and feel good seasons, but my faith is IN THE NAME OF T

The only thing that matters
In a time of intentional and deliberate seeking of The Lord’s direction and provision for our lives and future, He spoke to both of us, giving us very specific direction, accompanied by His peace, faith and hope(even in the face of personal sacrifice). We asked. He spoke. We trusted and obeyed. He is faithful to finish this. As with any significant expression of faith and courage, well meaning counsel comes. Especially when the enduring of suffering is witnessed. No body like
